Video by Alan Tauber. I love Mexico and the Cancun/Tulum areas are especially nice. There are also islands of the coast for short day-trips. The food is great, the people friendly and the weather damn fine! (Best months are November - April) And while you're there, get all of your teeth fixed up. Try Cancun Dental Specialists (there are others but I've been coming to CDS for 9.5 years and getti...

Mamady Keita started teaching for DrumConnection once or twice a year for over 10 years in Boston with us, bringing in huge crowds and making all very happy. He challenged us with complex solo phrases and the songs that accompany the rhythms. He also would always explain the meaning of each rhythm and song and why and when it is played or performed for entertainment. He is widely respected not ...

Fantastic , so fantastic, thank you so much for the upload. paraparaparapampam .
It was only okay, but thanks. I am trying to load up the Friday Class Content so everyone can benefit from what happens there... a special place.
EVERY emotional moment of every song radiates from this artist in a powerful way that's unlike anything i have seen in my 57 years of life. If you don't want to deeply feel the song then don't look at her eyes. Even though they can't been seen clearly in this video they radiate those emotions. She doesn't just sing the songs, 100% in the song in every video on the internet
Wow! I am impressed with your ability to take in the artists' energy so fully! She was so special in her early years. Hope to see more of her soon.
Okay thanks Alan that's what I was looking for at FB very helpful Keep up the good things
Thanks Paul. Hope to see you someday soon! Alan
(France Burgundy🐌)Oh my Grace!. Sick concert!.Always exceptional, always perfect, always Grace.we love you Grace.🦋🦋🦋🐛

Thank you! Very nice of you to record this and post it.
Thank you for watching it :)
❤❤❤
It's true ❤
❤
his is the version that I like the most, better than Johny Nash's with all due respect!!
he was saying you’d learn
I love it when she goes barefoot on stage. It gives a relish of liveliness and excitement she passes on to everyone watching her.
She was most comfortable that way. As it might be for many people who try that.
The items the men are holding, what are they traditionally called?
Bravo pour cette belle chaine Alan . Phil
Hi Nansady trying to get in touch its Michelle from fenwick stead hope all of the family are well would love to get to speak I did not get your new address when you moved hope this gets to you x

Hello looking for flute lessons have you got a link on the network please and thankx
I don't know a flute player now. Sorry.
Thank you Alan for sharing your experience. Hope to meet you in Guinea someday.
Thank you so much for this upload.
Works like a charm!!! I haven't tuned my Djembe in over 20 years - and now it sounds fantastic - Thank you Alan!!
You are so welcome. I invented this system as I blew out my low back in 1989 and couldn't tune my djembe anymore. It is fast and easy and doesn't require strength, at all. Glad it worked for you. See you in Friday class, I hope.
A beautiful comment! Thank you for being for Grace! I think we'll see her soon on tour. She used to love touring... so we'll see. She can do just about anything she wants. Her modeling career is going strong these days; she's perfect for that! Love to you and everyone out there. Alan (Boston)
Just exactly the same as kuku
She took a picture with me. That was so incredible at 1 hour and 4 minutes
❤
You're the one :)
Better and better
quel style!!!! woaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Curious why are you wearing latex gloves while playing?
Covid had just started and that was the first thing they told us to get. Masks I believe were second. So I was wearing them not knowing anything about this disease! :)
Wow. Truly fabulous. It was an absolute pleasure watching this. I hope to see more from you guys!
So, so beautiful, he delivers such good energy. Djembefola Bolokada Conde, a true master. Thanks for the upload.!!
The performance was great, we're all going to value this musical phase, now new times are coming, let's follow the evolution of your work and whatever, congratulations and “always a success” !!!
Thanks. It was a special night, for sure
Some people are so rude can't hear what she is sing ther are loud and the music is too loud giving me a headache really bad and l love to hear her sing.
People were there to be with Grace. Big fans! And some family. Remember I was recording on my phone. Anyway, I hope you can enjoy it!
Remember this was just recorded on a cellphone. Enjoy!
Great audience! The cheers will get you through a long performance.
The darkness keeps chasing me is such an underrated song by Grace I wonder what the story behind that song is did something happen to her
I wouldn't say it was underrated at all by her fans. Some fans had it as their #1 song. It's a great song and she did it so well. There is the rooftop performance with her new guitarist at the time. ua-cam.com/video/LjyquiQWF2M/v-deo.html
I kinda doubt it but she has no reason to say. I’ve met her and her parents a year after this concert and everyone was fine. She had a good upbringing and someone came up with this idea. Not sure it was Grace though…
This song is about her brother and the struggles he had
@AlanTauber-DrumConnection "Darkness Keeps Chasing Me" came directly from Grace. Her co-writer for the song even said that people would have to ask Grace what the song was about. He had said that he stayed out of her way, and only helped guide her when necessary.
Ben had nothing to do with that faulty Tamborine. Nothing I say.
Ya know... it really wasn't that funny. But Grace's subtle reaction and timing was priceless and made it funny. Had to laugh moment.
@@AlanTauber-DrumConnection There is a back story to what I have told you. Ben was getting back at Grace from what I was told. Fun times on tour. This is after they all got their tattoos together.
@@Sartorri4666 I guess it's possible. Maybe that why HE was laughing uncontrollably. I just think that's pretty unprofessional.
@@Sartorri4666 Ben had nothing to do with Grace's faulty tambourine. This was also definitely not around the time of them getting tattoos together. Grace was still 14 here and wouldn't get her first tattoo of the elephant for another year, and her shared URSB tattoo for nearly a year and a half.
Still jealous you got to see Grace sing Darkness Alan. Listening now on youtube still brings me to my knees.
She is so sweet, or was! She's been on a hard road to growing up; I remember how being 16-19 yrs was really hard and I wasn't dealing with too much fame. Not at all like Grace. I will always love her and hope that she can find a way to enjoy life and make it as full as she wants it. I have confidence in her even though, right now, she is just coming out of a hard time. Poor kid. Kinda glad she put music on the back burner for a while; it was a good move and it was unavoidable anyway. Thanks for staying in touch my friend! :) Stay well!! Alan
@@AlanTauber-DrumConnection Sorry if this comes at you wrong, but Grace is as sweet as she ever was. What has changed is her audience and their expectations.
@@Sartorri4666 I know you see it that way; I really don't. Grace's good fortue and place in the music industry was fast and fleeting. She is confused and growing up. And that's normal. I agree on that.
@@Sartorri4666 Todd. Be civil. I am telling you that ultimately Grace will probably be okay. But she has a lot of stuff to get thru to get there. It will be and already is hard for her. Life is hard sometimes. Graces was made more difficult due to early fame. If you want to disagree with that then we just disagree. This is not a challenge game. Why can't you just be supportive of her getting thru this stage of life. She could use the support.
@@Sartorri4666 okay you’re right.
Trop drôle la fille derrière
Thank you for posting this, Alan! I love hearing the stories of how the rhythms came to be.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Gracias!
This is awesome. I didn't like the part were a women comes and throws money at them....I find that desrespecful.
That is traditional in many countries in Africa. It is not disrespectful it is like a sign of applause. It is not a required act but a sign of approval so much that the person wants to benefit the life of the poor men or women. It is used equally for men and women but this was an all-women show. Thank you for your comment.

Looks like fun.
Hi Alan, Thank you for clarifying that kakilambe discrepancy - I’d always wondered about it, having noticed the difference on several occasions, and now, what you say about what the students so often did, it makes perfect sense. A plucky and tenacious Ibrahima often expressed his frustration with trying to teach students, and even band members, in my discussions with him about pedagogy - I’m so grateful that he persevered! IMHO, that 1st part is more effectively taught (the authentic version!) by having students master just the first half of the 6/8 pattern first, and only after then, mastering the second part separately, and then eventually adding them together. Hoping anyone would realize this process would take more time - and maybe a grain of salt - as it's coming from a keyboard player. Thanks so much for posting this! So glad to see you preserving the legacy. Great to hear part of Ibrahima’s story again, too. Would look forward to seeing you do a history of kakilambe video.
Thanks so much. He was trying to say that no matter how many times he would teach it in a 6 feel, the students didn't hear it that way. SO we always played it in 4 which it probably never would be other than in Cambridge, MA. But Ibrahima brought the in 4 version to Montreal and all the way to the west coast where it took hold as well.
Something to note: when playing at blistering fast speed it can be hard to hear and feel a difference
